The health of an ailing person is to be restored. This is every doctor's main motive. Other planes of operation is not beneficial at all, such as greed, jealousy, attachment, fear, want of name, fame and money, etc. I see a lot of doctors from other systems of medicine, like Allopathy, etc prescribing Ayurvedic medicines. Yes, you heard me right, but NOT in the classical names though. 1. A famous orthopaedician of the city prescribes 'pain-killers' in the name of herbal extracts. Mind you, there is no mention of the herb's Sanskrit name or common name. Either the herb's scientific name (Botanical name) is mentioned or the chief chemical constituent is mentioned; and a fancy brand name is given.
The receiver (here patient) presumes it is allopathic medicine and takes it with devotion. Why is it so difficult to give credit to the right source? They can be bold enough to inform their patient that is an Ayurveda medicine prescribed.
2. Another patient consulted me recently for 'Aamavaata' (symptoms can be correlated to Rheumatoid Arthritis). I was explaining how 'Aama' (which are the undigested food metabolites get into circulation and accumulated in joints, due to various reasons) should be aimed at being reduced by taking so and so Ayurveda medications and Panchakarma therapies.
Instead, she tells me, 'my allopathy doctor has asked me to take these medicines (one steroidal drug, one anti-inflammatory drug and Vit D3, Calcium tablets) for a month to bring down the inflammation, the ESR, C-RP and RA factor..later you can go for alternate systems of medicine'
And then, I politely replied, Ayurveda doctors and the Ayurvedic science is a responsible and systematic system of medicine, where in we also aim at reducing the inflammation, the ESR, C-RP and the RA factor, along with correcting the 'Agni' (metabolic pathways) and reducing the pain associated.
(What does the allopathic doctor have in mind to think this way and infuse in the patient, I'm still wondering)
3. One more patient informs me that her orthopaedic doctor has been treating her for Cervical spondylosis and has prescribed her Calcium tablets. I just intervened and told her not to take in a lot of Calcium or Vitamin D. Then she defends, saying 'no, no my orthopedic doctor is a big surgeon and he has told me it is 'Organic Calcium' and that no untoward side-effects will be seen with these supplements'.
Organic Calcium?? Wondering what it could be? It is a 'RASAUSHADHI'. A systematically prepared 'Bhasma' which does not cause 'heavy-metal poisoning' (as has been wrongly tainted by the Western medicine practitioners about the wonderful Ayurvedic Rasaushadhis) I shall post in detail on 'Rasaushadhi' in the upcoming articles.
Thanks for reading. The article was written to bring awareness about what's happening in the name of Healthcare!
